Irish clan leader's ahve a title which is simply "The". So the leader of the O'Connor Don Clan is styled:
The O'Connor Don.
BTW, Lynn, Éanna, what exactly does "jawohl" mean? _________________ "Tá an saol mór lán den fhilíocht ag an té dar dual a thuigbheáil agus ní thráfaidh an tobar go deo na ndeor."

Ailill - ever see Full Metal Jacket?
Jawohl = Sir yes sir! in the military
but it's mostly used sarcastically in response to someone who is barking commands at you
Ja = yes
wohl = well
So it would be literally "Well yes!" but that's not the total meaning.
Split up sometimes to reverse a negative statement:
Das gibt's ja gar nicht! (That can't possibly be!)
Gibt's ja wohl! (Oh yes it can!)

Hmm...good point. I have heard that a few times, but it really depends on the person who's waiting tables. That would be then the only time where it's used neither as an emphatic nor a sarcastic word, there it would like saying "roger wilco"; it's used in that case impassively, as you will
But - I must give the caveat that I have lived here in the North (Kiel/Hamburg/Bremen) for most of my time. The furthest south I've ever been is Frankfurt/Mainz and that was only a few days on holiday.
I really have no idea what the deal is for Bavaria or Baden Württemburg. _________________ Dá fheabhas é an t-ól is é an tart a dheireadh.

Yeah, that's why I asked. The last time I was in Munich I ordered some food and the waiter said jawohl with something of a flourish and I was wondering if he was taking the piss. I found it funny coz the only time I ever heard it before then was in WW2 movies. _________________ "Tá an saol mór lán den fhilíocht ag an té dar dual a thuigbheáil agus ní thráfaidh an tobar go deo na ndeor."
