Yep, as Benjamin said, you need a verb.

Tá cócaireacht níos fearr ná ní na soithí.

(The snow is better than a hot day)

Looks good to me!

Táim níos fearr ag snamh ná thú

Can anyone make a head or tale on this one?

"Good" is one of the (very few) irregular adjectives in Irish: the comparative doesn't look anything like the basic form.
maith - good
níos fearr - better
is fearr - best
(Fortunately it's also one of the most common, so you soon get used to it!)

I don't like being compared to other people too much though. How about cócaireacht (cooking) vs. ní na soithí (washing the dishes)?

Cócaireacht níos fearr ná ní na soithí.

Cooking is better than washing the dishes?

How about sneachta vs. baisteach (snow vs. rain) in honor of this lovely, snowy, let's all stop driving day(in Michigan).

I think you need a ''Tá'' there.

Tá corcaireacht níos fearr ná an soithi.

(Thats the way I say it, I am not too sure.)

Does anybody know?

Tá corcaireacht níos fearr ná an soithi.
GRMA, Benjamin.

By request, here are some exercises for those who want more practice. (We'd all better watch out, because at the rate Benjamin has been practicing, we're going to be left in the dust.) I don't expect anyone to do all of these. I've divided them into groups so that if you only do one group, you'll still get a good mixture of different types of adjectives.

For each of these adjectives, write a sentence that makes a comparison.

áisiúil
beag
ciontach
furasta
blásta
amaideach
olc

suimiúil
liath
buí
uaigneach
cleasach
maith

spéisiúil
deas
sásta
te
eolach
réasúnach
mór

dóighiúil
dílis
tapa
gearr
fiosrach
salach
fada

Tá sneachta níos sleamhaine ná baisteach (unless it's deep snow).

I'm waiting for someone else to comment on this, because I'm not sure if this sentence structure works. I think there are more natural ways of saying this, and I suspect this structure might not be grammatically correct, but I'm not sure.

Who can enlighten us?
