Ah brilliant, thanks - glad to hear it has a "lovely sound" to it!
What's the difference between "agus" and "is"? Could you show me word by word through the translation by any chance?
Cheers! |

Great stuff, think I've got it! How do you pronounce 'agus', because I think that's what I'll have in my tat.
Cheers again.
(Also, I was told of two rude phrases in Gaelic, but I can only spell them phonetically, can anyone spell them for me and correct the pronunciation?)
1. Dun de vel! (shut your mouth)
2. Bog ma hone! (kiss my arse) |

Love your name. Good thinking and lots of pun.
"agus" sounds like (see blixt below)
1. Dún do bhéal. /DOON da VALE/
2. Póg mo thóin. /POHG ma HONE/

Wish I could say it's mine, it is in fact the name of my favourite band. They're well worth checking out - fast rocky tunes with incredibly intelligent political lyrics related to reducing oppression of all kinds.

Sample lyrics:
"I drink myself to sleep because I'm losing faith
that we can amount to anything more
than reluctant human subsidies,
the moving parts in a death-machine,
protesting their complicity,
but waiting for somebody else to throw
their body on the churning gears.
I drink myself to sleep because
I'm losing faith that we,
we here in the Cradle...
of Affluence can cease this sickening drive for individual strength through state-powers' swinging fists
or that we'll ever look back and laugh at the irony that is:
atomic murderers enshrined in Independence, USA"
From "Albright Monument, Baghdad" on the album "Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes" on G7 Welcoming Committee Records.
I've uploaded a copy of that song to here:

for your listening pleasure. Hope you like it for the lyrics, if not the music.

Oh and finally, this is what my tattoo will look like:

Not sure how you say 'august' but it's not how I say 'agus'.
I'd say: 'ogg-us'.
