I'm trying to write "I would like it for myself". Would I be correct in thinking it is "Ba mhaith liom é faoi choinne mé féin" or do I need to use the prepositional pronoun 'dom' e.g. "Ba mhaith liom é dom féin".

hmmm.... Confused

If you wanted to say "I would like it reserved/appointed/set aside for myself," you have to say:

Ba mhaith liom é faoi mo choinne féin

With these compound prepositions, since they require the genitive of a noun, they require the possessive pronoun.

If you wanted to say "I would like (to buy, to get, to have, etc.) for myself" you could just say

"Ba mhaith liom dom féin é

"faoi choinne" means "specially set aside or designated for" someone.
