Welcome to the forum! I am also a learner here... (mostly Munster Dialect -- but very much a 'beginner').... this is a great place to start and to apply what you are trying to learn. The weekend can be a bit slow here, but feel free to post any questions you think of... the more specific the better. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/obriengwen

Fáilte Greengoer!
There are many learners here. We like to play as we learn, and we all make mistakes. Feel free to jump in at any time. There are practice threads just for beginners. Maybe you'd like to try one of these. Whatever you need. we got. _________________ Please wait for confirmation or correction on anything I translate. I am a rank beginner. |

Fáilte Greengoer! You may find some of this info helpful:
Wombat's Eight-fold Path to Learning Irish
- See the Resources link at left under the shamrock
- See the Tips for Learners link at left under the shamrock
- See the product reviews (click on Home, you'll find a link there). And if you want reviews of dictionaries, see here: http://nualeargais.ie/leirmheasanna/focloiri.php
- Check these sites for a class near you. If there are no classes listed in your area, contact some of the closest people and ask them if they know of anyone in your area who teaches.

http://ceantar.org/ATM/
http://gaeilge.ie/learning/learn_nasc.asp
- As you're learning feel free to ask questions here. We enjoy grammar discussions.
- You can practice your Irish here. Start a new thread and have the subject begin with "Ga:" (for example, "Ga: Conas atá tú?"). If you're just beginning, you might introduce yourself and tell us what the weather's like.
- Join us on Practice Thread, Level 1. Read the first post and start learning this instant!
- When you're looking for resources, make sure you look for books, dictionaries, etc., that specify IRISH. If only the word "Gaelic" is used, it means Scottish Gaelic. For example, if you buy "Teach Yourself Gaelic," for example, it will be Scottish Gaelic that you learn, not Irish.
