hi again. sorry, this is going to be kind of long. i was wondering if you all could translate this for me to be spoken in a ritual. i need pronunciation as well, if that's not too much trouble. thanks!
Morrigan, make your presence known and bestow upon me your blessings. may i feel your embrace, the raven's wing. may i always see your face before me, may you always be my guide in the dark. come to me and lead me to the worlds beyond my own. give me sight, lift the veil, let the hidden be revealed to me. |

just a wee question here.
what sort of ritual is this for?
and why would you want to carry out this ritual in a language you neither speak nor understand?
i'm very curious about this. |

um...it's part of a dark moon ritual, includes communication with the Goddess and the spiritual realm, basically. seomthing about opening doors and finding hidden parts of yourself and other worlds. i'm all embarrassed now. |

| i figured since the Morrigan was an Irish/Celtic goddess, it'd be appropriate to use Her language i guess... |

I think that Wiccans feel that anything you can do to make the atmosphere special for the ritual will help to make the magic more powerful. Considering that the Catholic church conducted mass in a language few people understood until relatively recently, there's good precedent for it. _________________

No need to be embarassed - we just are sticklers about the language We don't want you to end up asking to be turned into a frog because someone gives a wrong translation. You should see what we put people writing wedding speeches through
the Morrigan in Irish is Mór Riaghán if memory serves
bestow upon me your blessings = tabhair dom do bheannachtaí
come to me = tar chugam _________________ Dá fheabhas é an t-ól is é an tart a dheireadh.

thank you. and i do understand your need to know what the translation is used for. but i am interested in really learning the language as well, and i'm looking for a teacher. i just wanted that translation for my ritual i was planning....
if any of you know any free pregrams or people willing to teach the language, that'd be great. all i have now is that "before you know it" program (the lite, free version:)) so, i pretty much know aselect few words, verbs, colors, etc.
thanks again for the help, Meabh, and for making me less embarassed. and Meabh (the Queen) is a fascinating woman/goddess as well...I've dont research on Her along with the Morrigan and others in the Celtic pantheon...anyway. |
