I'm going for a tat and I want to have "Only God can judge me" with the tat. CAn any one tell me how that would translated and what font or markings should be used? Someone said it would be Ni dheaufaidh ach Dia breithiunas orm, is this correct.

Thank you for any help.

You and just about everyone else, it seems. What are we up to now, Abigeál...77?

For every possible (correct) iteration of that phrase, see here:

The one you have is misspelled.

77, by my count.

If you don't mind my asking, Coach, why do you want it in Irish? It's got to be our most popular tattoo request ever, and yet none of us can quite figure out why. I can see why the phrase would appeal to people, but why the connection with Irish?

Hope you don't think I'm being nosy here, or trying to talk you out of anything. I'm just full of 'satiable curtiosity tonight. Smile

Well, I wouldn't be too enthusaistic about any of those.

In the first place, the verb to use with "breithiúnas" is "tabhair", not "déan": "tabharfaidh Dia breithiúnas orm" = "God will judge me".

In the second place, if you say something like "Ní dhéanfadh ach Seán é sin" ("Only Seán would do that"), the implication is that nobody else would be interested enough (or maybe even stupid enough) to do it.

I would suggest "Dia amháin a thabharfaidh breithiúnas orm'.
