In addition to that there's a famous glossary, Sanas Cormaic, compiled by Cormac mac Cuileanan (836-908), King-Bishop of Munster which explained the origin of over 1400 Irish words:
www.newadvent.org/cathen/04373a.htm
It was a bit inaccurate, apparently but it was one of the first books of its kind in any language.
Sanasaíocht is the Irish word for etymology. _________________ "Tá an saol mór lán den fhilíocht ag an té dar dual a thuigbheáil agus ní thráfaidh an tobar go deo na ndeor."
