hi.
could anyone translate these sentences for me?
'in love and friendship let us reign'
and
'with my two hands i offer you my heart and crown it with my loyalty'
i'd really appreciate pronunciation tips on them too and also on the phrase
'táim i ngrá leat'
get the impression i'm in love?
thanks in advance. |

"With my two hands I offer you my heart and crown it with my loyalty"
Le mo dhá lámha, tugaim mo chroí duit agus corónaim sé le mo dílseacht. (Maybe. If I'm very lucky. Definitely wait for conformation).
Pronunciation isn't my strong suit, but I'd say "Tah may ing RAW let"

I ngrá agus cairdeas go rialaímid.
And love and friendship may we reign.
Le mo dhá lámha, crogaim mo chroí 'is corónaim é le mo dhílseacht.
With my two hands, I give you my heart and crown it with my loyalty.
I am not sure if sé or é should be used and if dhílseacht should have the `h' or not...
Táim i ngrá leat.
TAW-im in graw let

Eek! I neglected to copulate! I thought I might be missing a verb somewhere in there!
Doesn't "lámh" have to be plural though, Oisin?

Technically, with "dhá" nouns are in the "dual," but that's just too confusing to bother remembering.
With dhá, all nouns take their singular forms. |

after a number, you don't have to pluralize
dhá requires the dual form sometimes, but that's an oddball thing _________________ Dá fheabhas é an t-ól is é an tart a dheireadh.

| Let's make things more complicated. After aon, céad or an, two becomes dá as in "an dá dhoras." The two doors. But let's not forget beirt and another peculularity of the dual as in leathshúile, one-eyed, leathchúpla, one twin, leathbhróga, one shoe. |
