1. This is a busy forum, and requests can be overlooked. If your request scrolls of the first page without all the answers or confirmations you need, post a follow-up to your own message to bump up the priority of the thread. Do this in the same thread by clicking on the Post Reply button. (In the body of the message, you can just say "bump".) Do not start multiple threads for the same request, that just causes confusion and slows things down.

2. If your request is for something important or permanent, wait until three people agree on a translation. If you need more opinions, just ask.

3. If you have a translation from somewhere else that you'd like us to verify, tell us the proposed translation and what you want it to mean. This saves time.

  • If it's from Google, we'll probably have to redo the translation anyway, so it saves time if you tell us what you want translated instead of just posting a Google translation and asking us what it means. Automatic translators like Google are very useful for getting the gist of something, but you need humans to get a decent translation.
  • If you got a translation from a person, remember that there are multiple ways to say most things in any language. It may be that the version your friend gave you is fine. And if any changes are needed, we'd like to explain why.
If you have questions about our translations, don't hesitate to ask. We won't be offended, and we'll happily explain the sentence structure, and the changes to words that are required by Irish grammar.

Bonus tips:
4. Put the words you want translated in the title of your post. That makes it a lot easier to keep track of different requests.

5. In the body of the post, use "quotation marks" or bold text to identify the words you want translated, so there's no confusion about which part of the post is your translation request.
