What does "taitneamh a bhaint as an lae inniu" mean? My friend responded to my Facebook posting of "Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig" with that and I can't seem to find that phrase (with all those words) anywhere. I think it means enjoy this day or something along those lines. Thanks so much!! Shannan

Yes, your friend is telling you to enjoy the day.

This is clearly the intention. If you want to use it yourself for any reason, though, Shannan, you'll want to know that your friend got the grammar wrong. What it actually says is "to enjoy today"...she must have pulled it directly from a dictionary. If you want to TELL someone to enjoy today, you'd say "Bain taitneamh as an lá inniu." Redwolf
