I am trying to figure out the correct and proper way to tell a male friend of many years who has listened to my thoughts and problems many years without ever judging. I would like to tell him he is my soul friend forever. Exactly;" You are my soul friend forever, be blessed always" I would be so appreciative for help soon. Thank you in advance

Looks good, but kenailan is alluding to a debate on this forum as to using anamchara in that context. If you want to see the debate, put that word in the search box at the upper right. I'm still a learner, so be sure to get input from others, especially for tattoos.

Thank you both, I was thinking about the same. And I did read the debate issues re: anamchara and I think the main concensus is leaning towards how I feel, as this is not soulmate or in love just a almost big brother( in the good sense) yet I do not to relate my message in a family sort of context. I will continue to get ideas...

Is tusa m'anamchara, go deo. Beannacht ort
Does anyone have any opinions on if this would be the words I want to use. He is 2nd generation and will understand and forgive minor errors but I want to at least be as true to the meaning as I can...thank you so much |

kenailan's is good but I think the comma is not required here. Also the "always" is missing from the end.
Perhaps: Is tusa m'anamchara go deo. Beannacht ort i gcónaí. Await further input... Irish Learners' Forum (http://irishlearner.awyr.com/) A place to learn Irish together and get accurate human translations, including translations for tattoos. |
