I agree that dánacht could be ambiguous, given the use of "bold" in Ireland for someone who is brazen or smart-alecky. What Caffler gave you and what glik gave you can both work:
[Is] as an misneach a faightear an tsaoirse [Caffler's right that I mistakenly omitted the "t" in tsaoirse, which is grammatically required] Roughly: "It is from courageousness that freedom is obtained" Is i ndánacht a mhaireann an tsaoirse Roughly: "It is in boldness that freedom lives/survives" I'm still a learner, so be sure to get input from others, especially for tattoos.
