I'm just after writing to the Bible Gateway folks (they provide a searchable version of loads of versions of the bible in dozens of languages), and suggesting that they might include An Bíobla Naofa. I gave them the ISBN numbers, and also gave them a couple of links where they could get it on CD-ROM.

Here's what it says on their website (emphasis mine). If anyone has a copy of ABN, you might check to see if there's any information in it about the publisher, who to contact for permission to use it, etc., you might let me know, and I'll pass that along to the Bible Gateway folks. Or you can do it yourself, if you prefer. Is cuma liom.

If you have a translation you think it is important that we add, please let us know with the form below. When evaluating which versions to add next, we consider several important factors, some of which include:

1. the reliability of the translation and of the integrity of the copy we can obtain;
2. whether we will be able to obtain copyright permissions;
3. how widely-accepted the translation is within its language group;
4. whether the particular language is already well-represented by other translations on the Bible Gateway; and
5. available resources such as time, personnel, scheduling, funding, etc.

If you know additional information about points one, two or three above that might help expedite the process, please mention that in your request. Thank you for your patience as we strive to continually provide the word of God via the Internet.

The publisher is "An Sagart," so I'm guessing this would be the place to start:

It carries a Vatican imprint, so I'd definitely say it's a definitive translation.

Excellent! The Bible Gateway folks got back to me with a few questions, and I've passed the contact information for An Sagart along to them. I also explained to them that this week is Seachtain na Gaeilge, and how that would tie in. So here's hoping!
