Don't worry about the issue of ancestry. There were lots of Irish who converted to Protestantism (happily or not) and lots of mixed marriages over the years, so most people are of mixed "ancestry" when it comes to religion, and recent DNA studies appear to show that the people of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and most of England are all genetically very close anyway.
I'm still a learner, so be sure to get input from others, especially for tattoos.

Before committing to ink, you should first decide what it is that you actually want. Then get that translated.
