I lost my mum to cancer a few months back and was hoping that i could get a translation of Always Loved, Never Forgotten or something as close as possible to that.

Perhaps:

Gráithe go deo, Dodhearmadta

i hate bumping my own threads on forums but this tattoo means alot to me as my mum was from Belfast and i would really love to honour my irish heritage and her at the same time.

A direct translation might pose problems (or maybe just to me) but perhaps you could consider something along the lines of:

Inár gcroí go brách, inár gcuimhne go buan

[Something like: "Forever in our hearts, always in our memory" - if "my" would be more appropriate than "our", this could be changed easily.]

Wait for corrections/improvements.

No offense to iora_rua, but I think Merryploughboy's version has more balance and Irishness about it. It could be tweaked further though. (Redwolf may help correct the punctuation, for example?)

In case you would like to compare a version with "my" instead of "our":

Inár gcroí go brách, inár gcuimhne go buan "Forever in our hearts, always in our memory"
I mo chroí go brách, i mo chuimhne go buan "Forever in my heart, always in my memory"

I'm inclined to agree with Breandán: Merryploughboy's translation does seem to "flow" pretty well. I don't see any obvious mistakes (not that he ever makes mistakes )

Also, ApocAngel, don't hesitate to keep bumping your thread for as long as it takes to get an answer! I know some forums don't want you bumping threads but here, we rely on it.
