The second one:

Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine.
Is maith an séideadh sróine do dhuine smuga a fheiceáil ar dhuine eile!

An attempt at the first:

Éireoidh tonnta ar uisce ciúin. "Waves will rise on silent water." (A bit literal?)

or

Garbhóidh farraige chiúin. "A calm sea will become rough."

Or should these be in the present habitual for that proverbial feel?

Is minic a éiríonn tonnta ar uisce ciúin. "Waves often rise on silent water."

or

Is minic a gharbhaíonn farraige chiúin. "A calm sea often becomes rough."

Await further input...

Is fearr Gaeilge bhriste ná Béarla cliste, cinnte, ach i bhfad níos fearr aríst Gaeilge bhinn bheo na nGaeltachtaí.
