sorry to hijack your translation post but im also wanting to get"only human" tattoo'd in gaelic a translation would be much appreciated as well as your preferance as to where you think a good place to get it done would be

Seriously poxe679, your best place to get a recommendation for a tattoo parlour would probably be on a tattoo forum. And they'd probably need to know what city you're in or near.

I don't think the distinction is as clear as that, Pwyll2: English-Irish Dictionary (De Bhaldraithe, 1959) also gives duine for "human being". Foclóir Gaeilge-Béarla (Ó Dónaill, 1977) gives "human being" as the first meaning of duine and "person" as the second. Duine is used just as much to express the human condition and its frailties. |

Note that FGB does indeed give duine for 'human being' with article: nadúr an duine = human nature. Did I just make up duine daonna, possibly influenced by cine daonna or does it exist? The money-grabbing wankers who control this site can ban me too. Talk about recruiting trolls! I've spent enough time putting money in their pockets.

Duine daonna looks odd to me (sounds like "a human human").
To me "daonnaí" is more specific than "duine". Is fearr Gaeilg chliste ná Gaeilg bhriste
