I would like some help with my sons Irish homework. He needs to translate the following sentences and has left his exercise book at school. I am English and can't help him. He missed some lessons recently due to a death in the family and seems to have falllen behind. Any help is much appreciated.

1. They were happy.
2. We will be sad.
3. You(pl) are delighted.
4. We were lonely.
5. I am jealous.
6. He will be angry.
7. She is tired.
8. You (sing) were hungry.
9. I am surprised.
10. You (pl) will be disappointed.
11. He was scared/fear.
12. She is jealous.
13. They are angry.
14. I will be surprised.
15. You were tired.

Sorry, but it would defeat the purpose of homework if we did it for him.

Hi Carol,

What we need you to do is have your son make an attempt at these first. Then post his efforts here, and we'll help you walk him through the corrections.

To prompt him, you might want to remind him that these all have to do with past, present and future tenses of "tá." Past: bhí. Present: tá. Future: beidh. See if he can take it from there.

Orm/ on me
Ort / on you
Air / on him
Uirthi / on her
Orainn / on us,we
Oraibh / on you, Plural
