Yay, my parents are awake.

And my mum is yelling at me in Irish cause I stayed up all night :D

I think my dad just told her to shut up.

It sounded like ___ do bhéal... ést?..éist? :? no that's not right? That means listen.

Shut is dún isn't it?

Agus cén fáth a deirtear "éist do bhéal" ina áit "dún do bhéal"?

its a saying, its just the way it is, maybe its meaning is somewhere in your mouth should do the listening i.e. not do the talking. or more probably "listen to your mouth", like youd say "listen to yourself" ie talking shite

éist - can mean both listen and stop [doing that]

éist leis - is either
leave it
or
listen to it

depending on context

Dún do chlab - is a bit of a rude way of saying "shut up"

'Sea ^-^Tá an t-asamisféar go mhaith ar mo theach. Níl mo thuismitheoirí feargach. Tá mo máthair ag abair go bheidh tuirse orm inniu.

Agus tá m'athair ag déanamh iarracht níos mó codladh roimh obair.

Ah, yes I've heard that before, when my cousins were fighting.

Well, my dad didn't sound angry or anything  it was just a more like "be quiet" kind of thing.

What's a chlab?
