I am trying to figure out how to translate my friend's daughter's name for him so he can get it as a tattoo. Her name is Shyan. I am aware that the letter y is not in the Gaelic alphabet, but any help is good help. Thanks, Matt

Names don't generally have Irish forms unless they were originally Irish (and later Anglicised), or they're names in the Bible, or names of saints. I don't think that Shyan fits into any of those categories.

It looks like a "creative" spelling of "Cheyenne."
