There should be scepticism about all sources, books tend to be more researched and responsible, website less so.
Usually there is more than 1 meaning to a name, 2 or 3 names often running into common spelling.
An example is KELLY (my mam's side), there were 3 sources for Kelly, all slightly different, we being the Derry Kellys spelt Ua Ceallaigh

Anyone know the history behind the Ua, or is it an Ulster Ó?

It's an older form of what is now Ó

With surnames that's especially true, as often different names were Anglicized in the same manner. Less likely to be so with forenames.
