I think if I spelt/spelled the word without looking it up, I might have put in a 'h' as well.

"Níl saoi gan locht" is dócha.

Agus nílim a rá gur saoi mise. :)
Warning: Reasonable command of Irish - but I still make basic errors.

The sad thing is, I DID look it up. I just did my quick and dirty Easy Reader look-up though, which is usually sufficient...I didn't cross-check with any other dictionaries.

I hate it when that happens. I seem to have a talent for (unknowingly) finding the mistakes in any resource I rely on. Image

You might want to install Litreoir GaelSpell do Mhozilla. That would provide a good backup to Easy Reader, because it highlights misspelled words in all my posts with a red dotted underline. (Of course, if I've taken the time to look up the spelling of a word, I might not notice that LGS thinks it's misspelled.) I complains about "féileachán", for example.

For those who don't have something like Easy Reader, Litreoir GaelSpell is wonderful for when you're not sure how a word is spelled. Just take a guess. If you guess wrong, right-click on the red dotted underline and select the correct spelling. I'm assuming you'll know the word when you see it, and won't confuse it with a similar word. (This wouldn't be a good tool for absolute beginners.)

When I write something in English, almost everything gets a red underline. You can turn off the dictionary when you want to, but I kind of like it this way. It's as though LGS were scolding me for using English.
