Yesss! Foinse (arguably the biggest newspaper as Gaeilge) is back! They closed down a while back because of the recession but now the Irish Independent (arguably the biggest newspaper as Béarla) will distribute it every Wednesday. The article explains everything but basically it's readership is going to sky rocket thanks to the national circulation!!!!
Great Day for Gaeilge, if I do say so myself.....

Two separate threads have been started about the Foinse magazine, this being the third.

How many more are we going to need

The problem I have - (as usual!) is that I can't get it. WHSmith's only sell the Sunday edition of the Irish Independent. I've sent them an e-mail asking if they have another distributor in Paris but of course I've had no reply. Will Foinse be on-line after this first new print edition?

Ní féidir dúinne an iomarca a rá faoi seo... Iontach dúinn féin agus dár dteanga... le cabhair Dé rachaidh siad an bealach idirnáisiúnta leis an scéal agus cuirfear Foinse ar fáil in áiteanna taobh amuigh d'Éirinn... seans gur mhaith an rud é do ghrúpaí léitheoirí siopa nuachtán áirithe a phiocadh amach agus dul agus brú a chur orthu... sonc beag... agus sonc níos mó... agus níos mó.... Suas go dtí seo am caite amú a bhí ann ag iarraidh go gcuirfí Foinse ar fáil agus a dáiliúchán ar an gcaoi a mbíodh sé... ag brath ar An Post!!!... ach anois agus é in éineacht leis an Irish Independent, bhuel b'shin scéal eile ar fad ar fad....
We can't have enough threads about this... This is great for us and our language... please God they'll decide to go international and make Foinse available to places outside of Ireland... might be a good idea for groups of readers in far away places to pick a certain newsagent and pester them a bit.... more.... Up to now you couldn't dream of asking them to get Foinse as it was...depending on An Post!!!... but with the Irish Independent, well that's an ass of a different colour....
Three to agree on a translation.

The Indo has traditionally been very hard on the Irish language, but I must say that this is probably a good move. Lots of exposure! And the Foinse staff retain full editorial control. Which means, unlike in the Indo itself, fadas will actually be used.
