Greetings All,

I am writing a novel and I want a word that means 'blood feud' or 'vendetta'. I considered the word 'geise' but felt that it was not descriptive enough, although it is accurate for what I'm getting at. The protagonist must feel compelled or honor bound to continue the fight. I don't know if 'fioch fola' brings this. (?)

Thank you in advance.

Loosely translated, the essential or underlying conflict (feud)?

Thanks very much. Could this term be applied to the conflict between the Irish Nationalists and the British?

'Vendetta' is family based. And Italian than Irish.

That was a war. Even if it wasn't called that officially.
