I came across a memorial to Lieut. Nagle & Vol. Conway-O'Connor near Loch Acoose in Kerry. The inscription ended with the phrase: 'Fuil na mairtireac siol na saoirse'

I suspect that 'mairtiriac' may be translated as 'martyr' but neither word produces a result in the dictionary on this site.

Can anybody help?

mairtíreach - is the usual spelling

It's interesting that the final date for the Republic is given as 19--

There is a dot on top of the final C.

You have to include this dot or else an "h" instead of it.
