That's a little bit churlish Teifeach.

Im very positive about Irish! I swear its in the national psyche to put down the next man though "fair play to ya for speaking it" then behind the back "look at him with his Irish, doesnt he think hes the bollox", rather than "thats great, I might progress mine". Welsh is very cool in wales, they love it. I think we've a love for Irish, but in a more passive way, as long as theirs a Gaeltacht and other people are representing then thats grand and were all dandy and we can all feel good about ourselves.

i am 200% behind the Welsh , and i agree they are way ahead of us, and fair play to them , but i still find thers way too much Negativity regarding Gaeilge , i.e Numbers, Dialects, , when the Concentration on the Learning is the Main objective , when i started to learn, i didnt care a Toot how many speakers there was , and i still dont , or what the best or strongest dialect or Gaeltacht is , and i still dont , im Way too busy Learning ........... and still am.

Who gives a flying fiddlers about what other people think or what other people consider about you believe and love yourself? There are so many wonderful people on this site with very beautiful ideas of our languages; why worry about anything else? I used to until, I realised the difference between self and other. For me, the relation with self doesn't concern or require me to be believed by other.

There is too much negativity about Irish on the forums, more than the good points and actually concentrating on learning the language. And most of all these protests about Irish of how much of a bad future it has is in English all the time.

Welsh never declined as much as Irish and is to be found in towns and urban areas unlike Ireland. Unlike the Irish the Welsh native speakers have a tradition of reading in their language
