Just adding the usual caveat that that could also be interpreted as "daddy's little girlfriend" :lach:

I still lean toward "peata beag dhaidí" myself, though the concept of "pet" doesn't back-translate well.

Ofcourse it can, so can the English a chara.

The English ''Daddys little girl'' can also be interpreted as ''daddys little girl'' you know what it means by context just like it can be the same in Irish.

I've heard ''cailín dhaidí'' on Rós na Rún by Seámus a native speaker and another time but I can't remember what scene and who said it, also on an Irish programme on TG4 a while back and I asked a native speaker too and the reply was ''cailín dhaidí'' is correct''.

Same as ''Éireannach'' rule.

Tá sé ag éirí tuirsiúil ó bheith ag léamh na rialacha seo faoin Ghaeilge nach bhfuil fíor ar chor ar bith ach rialacha atá déantar suas ar an idirlíon...
