Is this Scottish Gaelic?

Where are the crowd/compnay of people.

I couldn't find any of those words in my Scottish faclair. (except na, duh.)

It's actually "Cití na gCumann" and it is a Scottish tune according to one of my sources, but I don't have a translation, I'm afraid (found it in one of my tunebooks). Looking on-line, I see it listed as a "traditional Irish tune," (and, spelled correctly, it looks like Irish) so who knows? Could be one of those Northern tunes that is common to both areas. Looks like Altan's performed it (which would fit with the northern connotation)...where are our Altan fans?

Going with what you've said so far, I've done some more looking (and ordered the Altan album). Altan translates it as "Kitty of Love" which sounds highly suspect to me. I've also found "Cumann" with two definitions: "association, society" or "love affair." I'm hoping for the latter definition. I guess it would depend on what Cití means.

I found the same definitions, which are confusing, to say the least. I've tried doing a lyric search, in the hopes that seeing the rest of the song might help, but no luck. You've got me curious, now...it's a tune I play, and I hate not knowing what the titles mean. I'm guessing the Altan translation is correct, but I'm wondering if it's overly simple...it seems an awkward way to say it. If "cumann" is, indeed, love "affair", that's rather different in meaning than simple "love."

Ah well, what do I know? I'm the barest beginner, but with a keen interest in anything musical. I keep hoping someone with more experience will weigh in here, now we've got the spelling straightened out.

I found the same two sets of definitions but the word citá is nowhere to be found in my dictionary.

I found some lyrics, but in Irish Gaelic of course, why would it be easy? Notice that within the lyrics, the spelling is "Chití" that's not in the dictionary either...
