I believe the paramaters are 76 x 76 pixels and 6 kb. You need to rescan the picture and make it that size and also save it as a .gif file

If you ask them nicely, you can perhaps e-mail it to a moderator or other computer wizzes here, and they can probably format it to the proper size, file, etc.

Your scanner program probably includes editing software. What you need to do is use any editing program to resize the image and to save it as a .gif file. Programs vary, but on the one I use, all you need to do is call the image up, then click on "image" and then "resize" (retaining aspect ratio)...it's pretty intuitive. Then click on "file," "save as" and then "imagename.gif."

yep 80 pixels high and 80 pixels wide, and not over 6 KB in file size
making it a .gif reduces the colour depth and so makes it more compact to store. If it doesn't work, then ask one of us. I find ThumbsPlus to be a neat program for making avatars. Plus it's free.
