Déanfaidh na fir dearmad ach ní dhéanfaidh siad maithiúnas choíche; déanfaidh na mná maithiúnas ach ní dhéanfaidh siad dearmad choíche.

Any suggestions of how to tighten it up?[/u]

That's pretty much what you gotta do. Pronunciation completely baffled me at first, and bothered me for a long time, but then, eventually, something just sorta "clicked" and it started to make sense.

Maybe this for a shorter version:

Déanann na fir dearmad ach ni maitheann siad choíche; maitheann na mná ach ní dhéanann siad dearmad choíche.

Using "maith" as a verb e.g. "maith dúinn ar bpeacaí"
"Tá an saol mór lán den fhilíocht ag an té dar dual a thuigbheáil agus ní thráfaidh an tobar go deo na ndeor."
