I've seen Bad Hagis, they played at a Renaissance Faire around here. Really good band.

Planxty? Sounds interesting.

I like alot of the instrumental trad music that has a fast pace to it...any suggestions?
Slán go fóill,

De Danann. They were big in Ireland in the 80s. More fiddle than pipes but well fast.

It's kind of metal trad fusion but it seeps it's wicked ways under your feet and makes you jump around, right Somhairle?

I'm surprised Ailill didn't mention Horslips...he must be dozing off ;D

OK Lemme say my Tuppence about Enya

what I do like on Enya:
her older stuff (pre this new age crap) i.e. Watermark and the stuff with Clannad PLUS the one last track on Shepherd Moons "Smaiointe"
her voice (duh!)
her site is nice to look at
some of her videos were pretty neat (like hand painting film on Caribbean Blue)

what I don't like about Enya:
most of her fervent fans are new age airheads
Gweedore (reminds me on :pig:)
the mumbling
the extreme oversampling that thwarts any attempt to hear what is supposedly one of the loveliest Irish dialects
marketing marketing marketing (think badger)
the lack of complete transcriptions of the Irish lyrics (Ebudae? hello! there are more words than that!!) AND the shoddy translations thereof on her website

this has been a public service rant from her royal b*tch-@ss Queen Maeve

she will now be given double her daily tranquilizer dosage and will be retiring to her quarters

I have a feeling I'm gonna fry for this, but.....

I really like Paul Brady. I was introduced to his music awhile back and since have turned into a big fan.

More in the "rock" genre I know, but I love the sound and the resonance of his voice - especially on pieces like "Lakes of Pontchartrain" & "Homes of Donegal".

Getting ready to run for cover now.

:)
