I was wondering how you would say "dark" when you were describing a person. It means being dark as in evil and kind of morbid. And how would you pronounce it? Oh yeah: how would you prounounce "Prionsa" and does it mean "prince"? Thanks much.

if you eventually want to make dark prince out of it, you realise that the adjectives in Irish have to match their nouns in gender, case and number, right?
I used to have a good word for sinister somewhere - Ailill, you still know where that Morrigan song you translated is at? Is é Christian Stoehr mo chroí

an Prionsa Diamhair = the Dark Prince
diamhair = dark, obscure, occult, mysterious, secluded, solitary, eerie, weird, lonely, fearsome it's also related to the word for blasphemy, so I would say that's yer best bet for "dark" in that sense but, seeing as I'm overtired and fried these days (LOL) best to wait for someone to confirm that Is é Christian Stoehr mo chroí

Dunno about Dubh. (sorry Pól).
I think Dubh refers to hair colour. There are loads of names with Dubh in them, Ó Dubhthaigh, Duff etc. They wouldn't have those as surnames if it meant "dark in a sinister way". Go with Diamhair, it's specific. "Tá an saol mór lán den fhilíocht ag an té dar dual a thuigbheáil agus ní thráfaidh an tobar go deo na ndeor."

Yes, but if calling someone "Dubh" it is a reference to hair colour, in humas anyway. So an Phriosa Dubh would be black-haired Prince. A dubhthomhas, however is a deep mystery, an enigma. "Tá an saol mór lán den fhilíocht ag an té dar dual a thuigbheáil agus ní thráfaidh an tobar go deo na ndeor."
