First off, go raibh míle maith agat for the grammar help. I use all I can get!!

well, in America, or at least in my state, "not so shabby" means bad. Such as a sick person saying, "I'm not doing so shabby."

"not too shabby" on the other hand, means good. "How you doin'?" "Not too shabby, you?"

either that, or I have no idea of what I'm talking about!
