I need help pronouncing Irish Gaelic words phonetically. Our chorus would like to include the song "Shivna" from "Riverdance" in our spring programme, but the words in the music are written in Irish Gaelic. I've tried using Irish Gaelic pronunciation charts, but I'm having a really hard time. Can somebody help?

Try plugging the words into here It works best if you do one at a time.

Here is a phonetic transcription of sorts (taken down listening to the CD):

/:A Vennawyn a vooey-redawyn a veyka-dawyn vin
Is vin lin in cooeykerawn duh nee too shin glin:/

A gry-nayn a yellanahawyn (dil dol doh roh day)
A vin-yeyn na konnara (dil dol doh ray)
A greeshawk a grimmanahawk (dil dol doh roh day)
A kyla a currakan-nuh in rugga for ey

Is mey shivna sheer huh hawn; looa reheem har glann;
nockan ey mannum dleehahawn; mo is annum dum Fair Byann

It's not an exact transcription but it should get you on the way.
Note that I am only a learner of Irish. Wait for confirmations!
