How would you say "this one is dedicated to Sean"?

Your suggestion is very good, too.

Seán is lenited because it follows "do" (to/for). So, if you'd let me rework your suggestion:

Téann an ceann seo amach do Sheán

or

Tá an ceann seo ag dul amach do Sheán

Watch out for prepositions! They can be tricky little buggers!

ar, de, den, do, don, faoi, sa, ó, roimh, trí, and thar lenite
ag, as, chuig, don't cause any change
i, ar an, ag an, as an, chuig an, faoin, leis an, ón, roimh an, tríd an, thar an all cause eclipsis
go and le prefix "h-" to following words that begin with a vowel.[/b]

How about briathar saor here,

Tiomnaítear an ceann seo do Shéan
This one is dedicated to Seán

That's just as good--it depends on the context.

Let's say its a song being played. If I were the musician and I were making the dedication, I'd use "Tiomnaím"

If I were telling somebody that the song was being dedicated to Seán, I might say "Tiomnaítear"

The Briathar Saor ephasizes the action (the dedication) when the person doing the dedication either is unknown or unimportant.

I wouldn't use "Tá an ceann seo tiomnaithe" unless what were talking about was something already completed--a dedication printed in a book or a monument or something.

It's a dedication to be written on a book. So far it goes:
"Tiomnaím an ceann seo do Sheán le grá. Cronaím thú, Graím thú do deor na ndeor. Slán, codladh sámh."
