Hi. I'm doing a skit that has to be in Irish Gaelic. I was wondering if anyone here might be able to translate it for me. It's a bit silly and is supposed to be silly, so have fun with it! It doesn't matter at all how accurate it is. The point is to let people hear what Gaelic sounds like.
Thanks SO much!
1. “Cor, this is some crap beer, Maeve.”
2. “Well it’s all I can afford so you’ll have to do.”
3. “What do you mean all you can afford? What happened to that money Mam and Da left you? They gave most of it to you!”
4. “What are you talking about Finnegan? They gave YOU more. They gave YOU all the pink china!”
5. !! You broke most of that anyway during a fight about who Mam loved the most!! It’s worthless now!”
6. That was Paddy that broke all that china and you know it! And why the hell would Mam give you PINK china! It was supposed to be for me!”
7. I like pink.

Great stuff
*giggles* But to be honest, no one ever complained about my beer before
(my name is the Gaelic spelling of Maeve, btw, but it's pronounced basically the same)

Mind you annieg, Gaeilge is usually pronounced nothing like the way it is spelled. Just a friendly warning.

1. Is cacach an bheoir seo, a Mhaedhbh
2. Bhuel, sin a bhfuil de ghustal agam, is mar sin a chaithfidh tú teacht leis.
3. Cad a chiallaíonn tú “sin a bhfuil de ghustal agat?” Cad a tharla ar an gcuid airgid a d’fhag Maim ‘s Deaid agat? Is dhuit-se a thug siad chuid is mó de!
4. Cad faoi atá tú ag clabaireacht, a Fhionnagáin? Is dhuitse a thug siad níos mó. Is dhuitse a thug siad an poirceallán bándearg!
5. Is ar aon chor a bhris tusa an chuid is mó de i rith argóinte faoin duine againn arbh fhearr le Maim. Níl maith ar bith ann anois!
6. Ba é Páidí a bhris an poirceallán sin go leor agus tá a fhios agat sin! Cén fáth an diabhal a dtabharfadh Maim an poirceallán bándearg dhuitse? Ba cheart é a bheith dhomsa!
7. Is maith liom an dath bándearg.

Yes, I'm wondering about that... but thought that would add a bit of humor; us trying to pronounce it. We are going to use some downloads of Irish we found on the net to give a better example of the sound. But if I was to try and pronounce it correctly, could I get the phonetic spellings in an Irish/English dictionary?

My Foclóir (dictionary) doesn't have any pronunciation guides in it. You kinda have to either know Gaeilge, or ask someone for the pronunciation for it.

What foclóir is at you, a obroin?
Note: if your translation is for a tattoo, wait at least for 3 confirmations. Deir Erik: Foghlaimígí gaeilge! Erik ütleb: Õppige iiri keelt! My irish is imperfect! My translations are seldom correct. Tá m'aistriúcháin ceart go hannamh.

The Foclóir Póca has modified IPA pronunciations in it. The only problem is that they use standard Lárchanúint pronunciation which no one actually speaks
