Irish Translation Forum

A friend of mine is in the US Special Forces and would like to have the word "airborne" (as in they jump out of perfectly good airplanes) tattooed in Irish, or possibly Ogham. He would like the Ogham to be translated from Irish rather than English though. As you can imagine, this is not a word commonly found in Irish/English dictionaries and we want to get it right, so as not to be laughed at in Ireland ... If there is anyone who can help us with this (even just the Irish part), I would be sooo happy, since he is leaving the country in a couple of weeks

As Eoin always says, I cannot except responsibility for incorrect translations on tattoo requests.

De Bhaldraithe's English-Irish Dictionary gives Ar eite as the Irish for airborne. The literal meaning of the phrase is "on the wing". Don't know if that will suit your purpose. Also a question, at the risk of showing my ignorance (but then how else do you learn, ), what is Ogham?
