I went to have a look at that David Blaine doing his thing down by Tower Bridge this evening. He's suspended in a plastic case about 20 ft in the air and plans to stay here for 44 days with only water.

When I was there he was lying down, I could only see the top of his head - if he was there at all - he might have slipped out somehow although I can't imagine how.

It's a strange thing to do; it;s not a stunt & it's not a magic trick (I think). We'll know for sure if he's emaciated in 42 days time).

Sorry if I'm goin' against the grain here, but IMHO, I think he's a bit sick. What about all those people who genuinely haven't had enough to eat and have starved to death? Have we already forgotten our past? It's not our problem anymore so it's OK????

This is one big stunt.

David Blaine is set to make a mint out of this but those who are starving are still going to be dying in their thousands!! :|

It's a fair point but Pol also makes a good point. The mayor of London "Red" Ken livindtone said the families of the hunger strikers might find it distressing, with a long dailycountdown, Remeber that?

It's controversial alright. I'm just curious abut whether it's all a trick and he'll emerge as well fed and healthy as the day he went in.

hey, I'm a bit of a hothead. Know you're not being flippant. Just think Blaine's a bit of a media hound and I do feel strongly about people who are genuinely going through famine.

I've never encountered that myself, though I've read some harrowing accounts and that's prolly why I get angry!!

Sorry for the sermon!! Just wanted to take you all back to reality for a bit!

Now, just click your ruby slippers...................and you'll be in Oz yet!!

BTW, the mint with the hole!!

IMHO-- I have heard many great magicians say, "Magic is always a trick."
Further "It's the abilility to create the illusion that gives people a different perception of the trick that's important." I had to chance to witness first hand less than 10 feet from my person, Siegfried & Roy make a Tiger completely disappear, then it reappeard in a balcony box over my table with it's long white striped tail hanging down. I was instructed that it would be acceptable if I wanted to stroke the tigers tail. I will never forget that evening. (Tigers being my favorite cats right next to Snow Leopards and Cheetahs).

"A good magician never reveals his secrets." I believe Houdini said that, it's a good thing that good translators always do! (with much beseeching and groveling from us students) thank God we're not asked to stroke anything but an ego now and again...
