Thank you for the reply! Would you be able to tell me the direct translation of what you said please? It looks like quite a few words, so I assume it must be said very differently in Irish.

I would go for
An té a thoghraíonn fáis na haon oíche. The one who summons mushrooms the Irish for mushroom is 'grows in one night' (more or less) It's a job that's never started that takes the longest to finish.

Sorry -I had not come across beacán before as a word for mushroom- but I see it is perfectly ok
we were taught mushroom= fás an aon oíche A shorter translation could therefore be An té a thoghraíonn beacáin It's a job that's never started that takes the longest to finish.

Thats exactly what I do JSmith! My I rish is very limited but bym having a stab at translations I increase my vocab and get the practice I so sorely need.
