MMm I wonder is there a mistake here somehere- or is it me losing it?
The translation is This is the best pub(tavern) that put a penis(using a 'nice' word) in a pea in Minneapolis It's a job that's never started that takes the longest to finish.

Thanks for the translation... I have no doubt that it's correct, my buddies at the pub would write something like that.
But thanks for the help, now I know what the back of my shirt says... http://www.kierans.com/Picts/Merch/RealIrishbackBlk.jpg Thanks Again Pól! |

The phrase ' Bod i bpis' may have a different/slang meaning other than the one I gave -especially if there is a native speaker among your friends-
I have given a dictionary translation. check back again -Tadgh or Ailill or Colm or somebody might have a new meaning. The Irish is good- so 'penis in a pea' doen't make much sense It's a job that's never started that takes the longest to finish.

Well, when I said my friends would write something like that... They would!
But I have to agree that "penis in a pea" is probably not they meaning they are trying to convey. And yes, there are quite a few native speakers amoung them. The sad thing is, they laugh at me, and refuse to tell me what it means. But when I finally figure it out.. I get a pint! |

Don't know what special meaning 'bod i bpis' could have but it sounds an authentic Gaeltacht rude phrase.
Put your question on the forum at http://www.beo.ie/ple. There's a few native speakers there who could probably help you out. Don't forget to mention it's on your t-shirt, they'll probably fall about laughing. "Tá an saol mór lán den fhilíocht ag an té dar dual a thuigbheáil agus ní thráfaidh an tobar go deo na ndeor."
