Okay, I saw the 7 degress thread, but I want to know where the 'memory lane' thread went? Jsmith13 was supposed to start it and I can't find it. Soooo, here I am starting a thread all about stuff we remember doing as kids...shows we watched, books we read, stuff we wore, etc.

Here's my latest find.

While on vacation I spent a whooping $3 bucks on a MOOD ring! LOL! I can't believe while I was traveling I ran across a store that sold mood rings. Remember those, you guys? You know the ring that changed color supposedly based on your mood. I distinctly remember when I was a kid putting my mood ring in the freezer just to see what color it would turn. Yep, blood red! It was the only time the ring was ever that color. LOL!

$3 bucks for a trip down memory lane. Not a bad deal.

I've got an additional suggestion - a bit removed from the "fun" aspect of the "7 degrees" and "Memory Lane" threads - how about a thread for History, as it deals with Irish History - when we come across interesting sites and/or informative sites and/or truly spectacular sites we can post the link?

Deb,

I did suggest that one on History also. If you could start it it would be terrific. I couldn't figure the logistics of it though. You GO girl!

Patrice,

Every mood ring I ever had stayed black. I should have know! They are quite popular out here with the Santa Monica/Venice Beach set.

Remember the perfume that was supposed to change to match your personality? I remember being in my teens, standing at the grocery checkout w/my mom, she complimented the checker on her perfume, the checker told her it was (???), my mom replies that on her that always smelled like "Black Flag" (it's a bug killer)--i choose that adolescent moment to remind my mom that it fit's the personality! I don't recall much after that

Christ, when you said Black Flag I automatically thought "Henry Rollins."

Hmm. Adolescent moment... I'm only eighteen so I guess I'm still an adolescent...but probably buying those big baggy pants that everyone was wearing in the mid ninties. God...hideous.

This ring has been every color in the rainbow. Geez, what does that say about me? LOL! Actually, it stays a deep blue/purple most of the time. <grin>

As far as the perfume goes...hmmm, how'd I miss out on that one? What a hoot! To be honest I believe most perfumes 'do' change based on who wears it as it mixes with the person's own body chemistry. :)

I checked out his website, don't get the "Black Flag" link? Is he a metal head? What type of music does he perform? I do remember the parachute pants! I see all over the pants they wear here in So Cal and one of these days I will be brave enough to lift up one of their shirts to see exactly how they keep them from completely hitting the ground. I figure it must be some form of sticky tape? 8)

A fun bit of entertainment. I'm going to attempt to explain this. Hope it makes sense. LOL! For those of you who hang out in pubs *cough...Pól*, I thought this was a great trick to show your buds.

Take a toothpick and stick it in the center hole in the salt or pepper shaker until it's lodged. Then take two forks facing each other and thread the tines together until they are jammed tightly together. Take another toothpick and slide it between the lowest tine opening through both forks (but only slightly past the edge of the forks).

Hold the forks while you take the end of the toothpick that's not between the tines and lightly place the very end of it on the tip of the toothpick in the salt/pepper shaker.

Damn, it works....perfectly balanced. Just like those metal gadgets you see sitting on people's work desks.

Try it and see if you can't get it to work. I couldn't believe it would until I saw it myself.

Patrice -

you forgot one very important part of the instructions - do this before your 5th pint!

Yes, good point, Deb. But ya know...if one has had a 5th pint, he wouldn't be able to read, let alone follow these instructions anyway. Hahahahaha.
