Could anyone help me with pronounciation for a silly American please? Thanks again for all the help, oh, and a friend might actually be using Tá an onóir síoraí for a tattoo, so he wanted me to pass on a thank you as well.

Well I have been discussing with friends and here is what I am going to go with:

That looks great in the uncial script!
It's pronounced a little bit like this: NEE YAY-LUNN KARTH WHEE-HA It helps clear the throat, if nothing else. "Tá an saol mór lán den fhilíocht ag an té dar dual a thuigbheáil agus ní thráfaidh an tobar go deo na ndeor."

Wonderful choice, Nate! (as you've no doubt noticed, Ailill is one of the gifted!)
Have you heard any of John Doan's music? He plays th 20 stringed "harp" guitar and makes some beautiful celtic music. "Eire Isle of the Saints" is very good. Another good celtic guitarist is William Coulter. "Celtic Crossings" is very soothing. You can probably find snippets to listen to on Amazon or if not, definitely on www.cduniverse.com Tá mé ag foghlaim i gcónaí. With translations, it is best to wait for someone more adept than I to confirm.

Yes, he is!! Thanks for the music tips too Deb. You guys just have all the bases covered don't you? I have heard John Doan before, very impressive. I will take a look into William Coulter as I have not heard any of his music before. Thanks again guys. |
