Years ago, an old man on Inishmore told me the word "dower-que", translating it as "the wet black hounds from the abyss." the word referred to the dark depression, the "duende" of the irish. i've been trying to figure out how to spell the damned word in irish. so far i figure its a combination of "dubh" and "cú." can anybody help?

madra uisce! i can see "the wet black hound from the abyss" could be used to describe dobharchú, but what exactly is the "duende" of the irish and what does it have to do with otters?
