Knowing us lot I think it's more likely we will start going back to English all the time!

Oh well Lads, it never hurts to remind ourselves why we are on this forum... Don't feel left out Ossian. Let's face it, at least the little green 'Gaeilge' button is more in keeping with this forum's aim than the naff cookie one.

Saying that, it's all just for a bit of fun isn't it?

Cén fáth a nascann an cnaipe sin go leathanach baile Tiny URL?

Why does that button link to the Tiny URL home page?

I'm still having trouble deciphering whether or not that comment was sour or sweet. In any case, the cookie wasn't a button, it was a one-time graphic employed to get a point across.

This forum is so we can converse, is sarcasm not an element of conversation at times? I really don't see how the bunch of thick-skins on this forum I've come to know could be so aghast at a sarcastic cookie. Haven't you seen worse? It's not like I called anyone a c**t. I'm not some pesky gnat that comes to pick on you from time to time, I visit this forum and participate daily. Think everyone could just get over the cookie?

Didn't think it would inspire such an outrage. I hope Wombat didn't spend too much time Photoshopping her avatar.

Is butún é. Drochsmaointe ab ea é, chun Tiny URL a úsáid. Tá sé athraithe anois. Más maith le daoine atá ag baint úsaid as an cnaipe an URL a athrú, seo é an líne nua:
Code: Select all

It's a mistake. It was a bad idea to use a Tiny URL. It's been changed now. If people who are using the button would like to update, here's the new line of code for their sigs:
Code: Select all

Is dócha go mbeidh mé ag rá rud éigin faoina teachtaireachtaí níos déanaí.
I'll probably comment on the recent posts a litte later.

Ossian, I didn't put the cookie in my avatar to be sarcastic. I had actually tried to put a cookie in there months ago when we found the "The cookie wants to be your sugar daddy" website, but I had some technical problems because it had a "gleam" on it. Then I saw your cookie, and it was perfect for my purpose because it was already clipped.

Putting the cookie in my avatar was definitely not a "dig" at you. If anything, I was just trying to turn the cookie into something we could all laugh about together.

I don't plan on using a button myself, mostly because I don't know Irish well enough to maintain that committment but also because I honestly think it's really meaningless. There no real distinction between people with the button and those without. That being said, if you want to use a button, I don't care, and in fact I think it helps make the forum look a bit brighter. The social dynamic here won't collapse because of a little picture (and if it does, we should all be ashamed of ourselves).

I would also like to see more cookies. Especially one in mhwombat's avatar, in the mouth of the wombat, if that can be achieved

Céard ba cheart dúinn a dhéanamh faoi dhaoine a bhfuil an cnaipe acu ach scríobhann teachtaireachtaí gan fhocal ar bith Gaeilge le fáil iontu?

What should we do about people who have the button but write messages without a single word of Irish to be found in them?
