It wouldn't be fair for any of us to do your schoolwork for you.

You wouldn't learn, for one thing. One of the most important things in life is learning to take responsibility for your actions, and dealing with the consequences of your choices. You've got four days, so you should be able to do a good job.

Try your best. You must have learned something of Irish. It would be better for you to use what you have learned and try to do you best. You might not get a perfect score, but the grade you will get you will have earned. The Irish you got right would be your own, and you would be able to be proud of that.

Finally, it's not fair to your classmates. If we did your homework for you, and you get a good grade, you would not have earned it. It would not be fair to someone else who worked hard on his own and didn't get as good a grade.

if there's a specific construction you're not sure of like "and thus conquered Constantinople" or something...we'd be happy to help, but not whole passages

I've always felt kinda sorry for Alexander-the-Great's brother, who lived in his shadow: Bob-the-Good-But-Nothing-Spectacular.

OK, so your teacher said you could get help on the Internet, but I doubt your teacher meant that someone else could do your entire essay for you. And even if it was OK with your teacher, we're all volunteers and don't have time to translate entire essays for people.

I know that the pressure to get good grades can be very stressful, we've all been there. We'll gladly help you with specific points that you might have trouble with.

The hardest part of an assignment like this is getting started. So put one sentence down on paper right now, even if it is terrible. Then fix that sentence. Then write another. It's usually better to turn in a shorter, but well-written essay, than a long sloppy one.

Also, ask your parents for help, and tell them how important passing this class is to you, and how stressed out you are feeling. Perhaps they can help. And if they can't help, then they should be a little more sympathetic if you don't do well in the class.

Good luck.

Good advice.

Also, if you're really struggling, talk to your teacher. Maybe he or she can recommend some remedial classes to help you catch up.

May I also suggest that you kids in Ireland who are struggling so with Irish take advantage of some of the free resources available to you? One thing we recommend to learners here is to try to listen to some spoken or sung Irish every day, either through CDs, videos or on RnaG. You've got Irish language television and and radio available to you...take advantage of that, and spend some time with it every day. If you can get a hold of an Irish language newspaper or magazine, spend a bit of time a couple of times a week reading through an article or two (even if it's slow going). As MHWombat suggested a while back, label things in your house in Irish and make up sentences about them when you see the labels. When you're riding along in the car and see road signs, try tuning out the English and focusing on the Irish place names. If other kids in your class are struggling, see if you can get a study group together once a week (even a conversation group in Irish could be useful). The bottom line is, as long as it's just a class you have to get through to graduate, it's going to continue to be a difficult and tedious subject, but the more you actually USE it, the easier and more interesting it will become.

We all have classes that really challenge us, and that we often can't quite see the point of (it was math for me...and I still struggle with it, even though I now definitely see the point of it!). Making it a daily part of your life goes a long way toward making it easier.

Here endeth the lecture.

please translate this.

alexander the great was born to the parents of kinhg philip and queen olmpyia of macedonia.
his parents cared much for him and at the age of 13 was sent to be schooled by aristotle himself .
it is here that alexander met his life long friends and future generals of his great army.
