Let us never forget

Let's have a moment of silence at the times when the world trade center was struck. The first plane struck at 8:40 hitting the first tower and the second plane struck at 9:05 striking the 2nd tower. Over 3000 people were lost.
I'm only here to have fun, learn, and practice my Irish. My translations may not be exactly what you request, or even correct, but you certainly don't have to use them. Feel free to get a 2nd, 6th, or 100th different opion.

Being a firefighter myself, I don't think I'll ever be able to forget that.

I assume you want this translated, because otherwise either you're two days early or I'm two days behind!

Ná déanamis dearmad go deo na ndeor

Bíodh móimint chiúnais againn ag na hamanna a buaileadh an tIonad Domhanda Trádála. Bhuail an chéad eitleán isteach ar a daichead tar éis a hocht, ag bualadh an chéad túir, agus bhuail an dara heitleán isteach ar a cúig tar éis a naoi, ag bualadh an dara túr. Cailleadh breis is trí mhíle duine.

The above is with the numbers written out, if you were going to read it aloud. Here's for if you were just going to write it:

Yeah...I had to check the date quickly myself!

I don't see how anyone who was here (in the U.S.) on that day can ever forget.

or those of us who sat in Europe and worried about our relatives who work in NYC. My cousin Glenn worked in an architecture firm around the corner from Wall Street and we didn't hear from him for 3 days :( Not to mention that the inbound phone lines in NY State were jammed for 12 hours so it took that long till I even got through to my parents
but there are indeed horrible comparable atrocities like this all over - I think on 9/11 not with sorrow or anger, but mostly shock and pride when I think about how the solidarity and community spirit came out on top of an act of hatred and possibly greed. Ok that's my final tuppence on it. I'll stay off this thread now.

We had an exchange student from Germany living with us at the time, and her family was worried sick (she'd only been here about a week). I had her call her parents right off, and her little sister was nearly hysterical...she kept begging her to come home. The thing that really got to her was the fact that she'd BEEN to the World Trade Center just the week before. The agency that arranged her exchange has the kids fly into New York and spend a few days in orientation before they go to their various host families around the country, and one thing they did was take them on a tour of New York city, including photo ops from the top of the World Trade Center.

I think everyone has horror stories like these. Just goes to show you how lucky you can be. My cousin is a flight attendant, and she knew alot of people who were killed.
