in windows go to: Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Character Map
double-click the ô icon, and press copy. then paste it by pressing Ctrl+V

All I do is press down Alt, then type in 0244 on the number keyboard and release the Alt. Making sure that Num Lock is on.

Yes, but i have a laptop...no numberpad, just the numbers above the letters, so the codes don't work like that!! :(

The only way around that is by using the Character Map. Just select the letter you want, click the "Select" button. Then either hold down the Ctrl key, hit "C" ( This copies the letter), then Ctrl+V to paste it into the message; or use the Copy button on the Character Map and then Ctrl+V to paste into the message. (How about that for a nice long run-on sentence? )

Or, if you are using the nifty U.S. International keyboard layout, just hit Shift-6 and then o and it will come out like so: ô

áéíóúýàèìòùâêîôûäëïöüÿçãõñ
(plus uppercase versions)
No character map needed!

Yeh, I tried the U.S. International setting, but it drove me absolutely bonkers, I could never find anything  I got so adjusted to the Irish/English that it's kind of a permanent thing for my keyboard now!! :ja:  ;D
