I don't know about any conspiracies or deliberate plans to destroy "everything Irish". I just try to teach my kids to have a sense of pride and knowledge in their heratage; which includes 4 different cultures. If you have that knowledge and enjoy it, then it does'nt matter what anyone says or tries to take from you. (if this makes any sense at all)

THOU SHALT NOT MENTION THE IRISH SITUATION IN THE EUROPEAN UNION!!!!!!!!

repeat that to yourselves, a chairde. we do not want any more debates than we already have.
ALWAYS get a second opinion on anything I, or anyone else, attempt to translate or transliterate.
I speak Connacht Irish, so some things I write, translate, or transliterate may be non-standard.

I must appologize if my post seemed a bit paranoid, but paranoia isnt always a bad thing. lol anyways thanks for the input, and yes i agree microsoft is evil, lol but so is walmart, and yes my town is a victim of wally-world, but back to topic. if it appears that i have animosity torwards the english, it's in me blood. i've traced me roots, yes i know, who hasnt, lol, and it appears that the earliest mention of my surname is around 1066 when my errrr, mmm, super-super great grandfather crossed with William. they then settled in northern england, married into the de Brus clan, fought the english some more, then after the "truce" our family was banished to various parts of uk. my line was sent to Ireland, and upon setting foot on Irish soil proclaimed themselves "Irish Forever". And, yes, my mom's side is from there, too. oh, and late last year, as i was recovering from cancer surgery, my g/f, who is half english, went to her "mum's" wedding promising to return. mmmm that was jan.. if you guys had heard the things her and her family said about Irish people, you would understand my feelings. and i know, it's the past, but whoever forgets the past is condemed to repeat it. my hatred of the english tongue started form day one elementary school. i took 2 years french and had better grades in french than
english. "whether" "weather" "read" read" "live " "live" "bored" "board", lol i think it's far too complicated, and teachers have told me that it's hard for a non-english speaker to learn english and it's very hard for english speaker to learn other languages. what i'm tryin to say is, it appears easier to learn, lets say, german, if you're french, than learning english. and other teachers and professors said that for some reson there arent as many "genuises" with english as native tongue, as compared to german speakers, chinese, russian, etc.. that's their research, not mine, i just tuned in and listened. i know in america, 12 years of english is mandatory, yet our school kids are behind albania's highschool kids, i'm serious, not making this up. american highschools arent in the top 20 anymore. and yes, mtv, "being cool" and other fads contribute, not denying. i first heard Irish on a program on , i think history channel, maybe discovery. i was blown away! i admit it's a bit intimidating to learn, but i feel it's woth it. my cousin, who is a deputy asked my why i was learning Irish and not spanish, cause ya cane make any money with Irish. so, yeah, i know about the "economic insentive" to speak english and now, spanish. i won't fuel the stereotype of Irish culture by praising Beamish & Bushmill's, but damn, they taste good. :D ok, i'll end this very long reply to my own post, lol, and yes, i could discuss this and other topics concering "Celtica" and Irish topics 24/7. again, thanks for havign this forum and i look forward to posting and learning from and with you guys,, errr and gals.
