I don't know about any conspiracies or deliberate plans to destroy "everything Irish". I just try to teach my kids to have a sense of pride and knowledge in their heratage; which includes 4 different cultures. If you have that knowledge and enjoy it, then it does'nt matter what anyone says or tries to take from you. (if this makes any sense at all)

I must appologize if my post seemed a bit paranoid, but paranoia isnt always a bad thing.
english. "whether" "weather" "read" read" "live " "live" "bored" "board", lol i think it's far too complicated, and teachers have told me that it's hard for a non-english speaker to learn english and it's very hard for english speaker to learn other languages. what i'm tryin to say is, it appears easier to learn, lets say, german, if you're french, than learning english. and other teachers and professors said that for some reson there arent as many "genuises" with english as native tongue, as compared to german speakers, chinese, russian, etc.. that's their research, not mine, i just tuned in and listened. i know in america, 12 years of english is mandatory, yet our school kids are behind albania's highschool kids, i'm serious, not making this up. american highschools arent in the top 20 anymore. and yes, mtv, "being cool" and other fads contribute, not denying. i first heard Irish on a program on , i think history channel, maybe discovery. i was blown away! i admit it's a bit intimidating to learn, but i feel it's woth it. my cousin, who is a deputy asked my why i was learning Irish and not spanish, cause ya cane make any money with Irish. so, yeah, i know about the "economic insentive" to speak english and now, spanish. i won't fuel the stereotype of Irish culture by praising Beamish & Bushmill's, but damn, they taste good. |
