What can you all tell me about the Gaelic language? The history and stuff like that? I'd really like to know.

 I am accepting Gaelic/Irish/Celtic ect. poems and short stories for the poetry site.

this was my first outlet for learning irish and it continues to help me:
http://www.fiosfeasa.com/bearla/language/intro.htm

also,
http://www.daltai.com/home.htm

fios feasa has a very good section on the history, a good section on pronounciation, and a good section on the specific linguistics (in case you care about that)

daltaí is really good once you get past introductory irish and into hard fast grammar, but it has many good beginning phrases to help.
ALWAYS get a second opinion on anything I, or anyone else, attempt to translate or transliterate.
I speak Connacht Irish, so some things I write, translate, or transliterate may be non-standard.
